Hello everyone,

I've been looking for a forum just like this one, so I'm happy I found it! People have told me that they think I have Asperger's, my mom is a paraprofessional for autistic and special needs kids so she's kind of in the know, so when she mentioned AS to me I thought it was interesting. I took the "canonical" Aspie test and scored a 140 on it, so I thought I'd go looking for a forum for this kind of thing! Anyway, I've been thinking about going to a mental health professional to get professionally diagnosed. I'm recently married, and it's been an interesting experience because my wife points out things that have kind of highlighted "Aspie" traits, which kind of led me to investigating further. I was kind of seeking supportive forums because I've always struggled with simple things like reading people, etc., which has at times made relationships, even the one I'm in, difficult. I'll save that for later though, for now I just wanted to introduce myself. Hope to get to know you guys and girls more in the future!

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I only recently took a "test" type thing

Favorite subjects: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Physical Chemistry

Year/Grade: Senior undergrad

Favorite music: Bob Dylan, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Theolonious Monk, Radiohead, Gorillaz, Blur

Books: Ulysses by James Joyce is my favorite book, and I like to read scientific books as well. Also Lord of the Rings is a favorite. Sci-Fi is great too.

TV shows/Movies: Breaking Bad is my favorite TV show, I love Star Wars a LOT. There Will Be Blood may be my favorite movie, tied with The Big Lebowski

Instrument: I used to play the bass clarinet, a very long time ago...

Family: Two younger sisters, and a great wife!

Job: Student/Researcher (Biochemist)

Plans for the future? I'd like to become a professor in physical biochemistry, and perform research with a focus on physical aspects of structural biology and enzymology.
