I’ve been fortunate so far in my life with Asperger’s. I can look like a normal cog in the machine, if you don’t look too closely or for too long. The few NT’s who I must see regularly accept my quirkiness and so I’m rarely asked to do things I’m not comfortable with. If I’m given time to prepare, I can usually face one person, but with a crowd of NT’s I have a very hard time. If you add noises to the mix, I become a basket case.

I’m glad I found this website because it’s a comfort to know there are others like me who face the same reality and anxiety that I do.

At age 18 you may be grumpy, but I would have trouble considering you old. My yardstick for old age is when I get the uncontrollable the urge to shout "GET OFF MY LAWN!!" at kids.
