MOM OF 10 YR OLD SON WITH AUTISM

Hello! I am new here and very excited to have found this site! I am just hoping to talk to anyone who is either autistic or caring for someone with autism. I dont really know anyone else who has a child with autism or has autism themselves. My son is currently really struggling with picking of his skin and leaving sores. ( Also he has no real friends so I would just like to conversate with other people. I would love to hear from anyone!! Thanks )

Pretty much every aspect of living on the spectrum (or living with it) is somewhere on this site, good, bad, ugly or beautiful xD. Though your son is still unique to all the rest of us so will probably do or say things that are all his own xD.

A lot of people seem to come to sites like this because their real world surrounds doesn't contain anyone who knows about autism. I guess it just shows that the majority of people in the world still don't pay attention to what doesn't directly affect them, which is a shame since there are so many people with ASD and so many misunderstandings.

Your son is lucky that you're here to find out stuff and to support him.

I'm afraid I can't help with the skin picking though. I never did that one...

Welcome! I joined here for much the same reason. My son bangs his head a lot when he is tired. Go figure.

I had no friends for a lot of my childhood, not that I didn't want any. I was weird and also I didn't know how to interact.
