another new member in GA, USA

Hi, I'm Chris. I'm 28 and live close to Atlanta, GA, USA. I was first diagnosed with AS in 2006, and diagnosed again in 2011 or 2012. I also have very pronounced ADHD and was diagnosed with that in 2005 after doing poorly in a lot of classes in college. My most current obsession is with my current attempt to run a business selling mobile phone accessories. My "day job" is as a cashier at a big box retailer that's very big on the color blue, which is often amusing, very frustrating, and educational. I hope to go back to school and learn a trade that involves electronics.

I have a B.A. in history, even though I'm much more of a science and math kind of guy. I also have a partner who's very sweet but also very NT, which leads to conflicts and miscommunication. Sometimes I think I'm suffering from overexposure to NTs. I'm looking forward to getting to know people here because, as far as I've been able to tell, there are no support groups in this area for adult Aspies. The closest one I know of is in Chattanooga, which is too far for my liking.

Hello from a fellow Southerner. I live in Birmingham, just down I-20 from you.

Once on a whim I drove from Birmingham to Chattanooga to Atlanta to Birmingham. Between Atlanta and Birmingham, I encountered this charming message in a rural restroom: "Go ahead and set on the seat. Alabama crabs can jump 10 feet."

I'm from Atlanta too! I'd say welcome, but I'm also new.

Thanks! I've been super busy with my day job (ugh), especially with back to school season coming up! I've also continued to work on my online business, which is my obsession. Juggling both can be hard, especially given my propensity to get sucked into a very interesting or intriguing task to the exclusion of other obligations.

I love my partner dearly, and I know I'm fortunate to have him. I used to think that I wouldn't find anyone at all. I took a chance I normally wouldn't take, and ended up meeting him rather than being in pieces on the side of the highway. I know it's rather macabre, but I have a dark sense of humor and I really did think that might happen.

He recently stated that I "must relate very well to Sheldon" on The Big Bang Theory. Thank goodness we're both fans of the show! I just had to laugh. I've told him about being on the spectrum. Whether he remembers that is a different matter, but he does know at this point that something is atypical about me.
