Hi just wanted to say hi and good for you - I like the goths and find them to generally to be nice people. I'm not one myself though I love the cloths and attitude (I get that it's more than appearance). My hubby and I used to like going to goth clubs before marriage - though never together for some odd reason.

I stand out enough already as a pagan so I'm just trying to keep my head low as I'm a 31 yr old mum with two little ones. One day I might be brave enough to just be me but as I still get other parents staring at my pentacle like I'm going to eat their kids I will play nice.

that's so cool, (that your a pagan i mean) used to be very interested in wicca and magic and such when i was younger. Do you do magic? im a bit rusty when it comes to "lables" so im not sure what a pagan is anymore. :? yeah goth is a very rich subculture and i love it. the fashion is just the outside of it. Everybody has their own style and you can really be creative though.

I tend to just be and do my own thing so I guess that makes me an eclectic pagan though I've looked into modern druidary/Wiccan/voudoo/reclaiming and so on. What can I say the study of faith and mythology fascinates me. As to the magic yes I've tried it on and off over the years, always nervous to talk about it though cause you get some massive opinions given on the whole issue of faith and magic.

Recently attended a weekend Samhain gathering in Australia which was so out of my comfort zone with shared dorms and people all over the place. Turned out quite positive as people were happy to just let me be and join in when I wanted too. A very accepting group of unique individuals.

One of the people I met there is big into steam punk and I've got to admit his wardrobe was awesome. There was also a girl there who makes corsetry that's custom fitted - kicking myself I didn't think to ask for her details.

What about you? Is there a goth label that fits you best? Never really looked into the underlying ideologies or attitudes of the goth culture as much as the paganism.

Hi. Welcome to WP :D

I wouldnt really call myself a Goth, but I love goth music and some of the more "gothic" literature and films. Also drawn more to the macabre and dark side of things. Artwork, the way I decorate my house etc.

I guess im goth in everything but the look lol. I prefer earth tones or drab clothing rather than dressing in all black.

i don't know, i like the old school kind of Music a lot but some of the bands i listen too are newer though. and i like dressing in velvet sometimes, but i like more modern fashion too with more fishnet and a Little more "punkish" with bondage look and d-rings or mostly just black stuff I can make prettier and more elegant with acessories when I go out or wanna feel pretty.

cool :D i dress goth most of the time but sometimes i like wearing other clothes too. (it's hard to get the look, and make it look good) do you have any favorite goth bands? would you recommend any Movie? i just discovered some really old ones on youtube. with bela lugosi and other actors. Kind of a bit weird when your used to modern Movies, but it's a nice cosy feeling sitting up late watching. . I love the Movie bram Stokers dracula. but i have never been able to finnish Reading the book. (the Swedish version is like 500 pages long or something)
i have discovered a lot during my years but I wouldnt call myself the gothiest of goths, it would be very nice to hear what other people like. :)

I don't like new goth music. It sounds like dance club music to me. That's probly because its for dance club goths lol. So I tend to stick to the classics.

Some of my faves are....
Joy Division
Bauhaus
Fields of the Nephilim
The Cure (first four albums only)
Gene Loves Jezebel
Virgin Prunes
Skinny Puppy (this satisfies both my goth and industrial cravings)
The Wake
The Sisters of Mercy
Alien Sex Fiend
45 Grave
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Christian Death
The Smiths
Some of these are Post Punk bands, but they laid the foundation for Goth.

I love the older movies too. especially Lugosi.
If you like silent films, check out Nosferatu or some of the old Lon Chaney Sr films.
The best thing about silent films is that you can play whatever music you want and not have to worry about the dialogue of the film :)

you should listen to brotherhood of pagans they are a new (or was?) a new band . , they only released two albums. they don't sound at all like club Music. I also like ghost of lemora. and if you like old bands check out sex gang Children or andi sex gang. That's some real Music.
specimen has a new album i really like. They started way back, if im not mistaken. :) some of the old songs are really good.
