Hi Fisplen! Welcome to Wrong Planet! The real world after school is just a bigger version of the school environment. There are differences, though. In adult life you have some freedoms that minors lack. Providing that you have at least a little money, you can go places and do some things that you can't do as a minor. And in your own time, outside of work, you have more freedom of who you associate with, and how much you do so. There is still family to deal with, though, unless you are an orphan, or live far away from them.
Don't worry too much about the future right now, as you still have several years to go before you have to deal with adult life. Just concentrate on your education and try to have some fun in your spare time. You may want to live in a community with better job options once you graduate, though. Since you are stressing out about things right now, you need to find ways to keep yourself occupied.
> Exercise will help you generate mood boosting endorphins.
> Read and watch funny stories and TV shows. Humor also boosts endorphins.
> Try to eat healthier meals. That will improve your overall health.
> Do volunteer work. Helping others will also boost your mood.
Since you are so concerned about the future, and with some justification, plan ahead. Make a list of your interests, then find out what types of jobs use, or are related to those interests. Then start taking elective courses related to your interests to will help you build your future. And don't put all your eggs in the "college/university" basket. Consider vocational schools as well. There are all kinds of vocational courses available.
> Nursing
> Computer related
> Office work
> Electrician
> Plumber
> Car/truck repair
And many others besides. People going to non vocational colleges and universities have been having a lot of trouble finding work, and usually are saddled with a huge school debt that they have trouble paying off. On the other hand, many vocational training programs are for jobs that are more available than those related to non vocational schools. Although they don't always pay as much as the regular schools, the jobs are easier to find. Pay from a job you can find is always higher than pay from a job you can't find.
Hope this helps, and remember, you are among friends here at WP!
