Hello everyone.

24 year old Arab girl. Nice to meet you!

Some people call me 'autist' because they think I act like an autistic girl. But I don't really care what they think about me, because I believe my personality is very unique lol. I don't know if I have a type of autism or asperger but I've been very introverted since I was a little girl.

Anyway, I joined this forum to ask a question about my 5-year-old nephew. We are not sure what his problems are. Unfortunately we can't get accurate diagnosis in my hometown. That's why I thought of joining a forum for asperger's syndrome and austism.

I will start a thread about him later.

Welcome to Wrongplanet.

Be aware that we members here on WP can't really diagnose your nephew(nor you either). You have to get the battery of tests face-to-face from a real doctor to get the real diagnosis.

But feel free to post about yourself, and about him, and about whatever.

Welcome!

Please be advised that there are no professional diagnostic psychologists on WrongPlanet (as far as I know). All you are likely to get are an assortment of subjective opinions based on each person's own experiences. Some will be all too willing to 'diagnose' you or your nephew with their favorite disorders, and their amateur diagnoses are likely to be both inaccurate and invalid.

Please also be advised that there may be people lurking about who will despise you for being Arabic, Islamic, or a Woman.

Please read the "Rules of WrongPlanet" at your earliest convenience.

The moderators are here to help you - Cornflake, Puddingmouse, Spongy and others - and can be reached with a personal message (PM) or in the "Moderator Attention" thread.

Again, Welcome Aboard!

السلام يكون معكم

Hi, Welcome to Wrong Planet! :D :bigsmurf: :jester:

And for your nephew, you might want to recommend our Parents' discussion board, which I think is just excellent.

Hi ya and Welcome.

Ditto with Fnord, also be very careful about "cherry picking" only the "symptoms", or interpretations of behavior, that will fit what you think is his issue.
Meaning, continuously examine yourself closely for any possible bias to prevent coloring your explanations.

Fnord's right. But people here are super helpful and can give you some insights, if you're looking for them. :) Also, who knows, maybe people on here know of some resources in your area - you can't know until you ask. :)

Welcome!

Hello and welcome indeed.
Which country are you from?
Unless you happened to have lived in the West as well, I suppose you are unable to give a comparison of the level of acceptance people on the spectrum receive from NTs in the Middle East compared to the West?
I would imagine that as you havnt exchanged all your Spirituality and Humanity for Image and materialism to the extent the West has, it might not be as bad?
