My (real) name is Alden and I am 17 year old high school senior in California.
I knew I must have had some kind of mental condition, seeing that all my life other people simply "got along" easier than me. I actually came across this site after googling "photographic memory" and then (in obsession mode) going to an article that had Asperger's Syndrome mentioned (which of course I looked up on wikipedia and saw this site). I was skeptical at first that I might have AS, but then I looked in the friendships section and saw topics like: "aspie unable to be articulate", "Anyone have more acquaintances than friends?", "How I Learned to Make Eye Contact", and "Why do Aspies not care about out appearance?", and basically said holy crap in my mind because those all apply to me.
As of now it's like a fan is blowing away all the fog that has been covering me for a long time (a la Fahrenheit 451, if you know what I mean). I'm infinitely glad that there's a community for people who have AS and that I'm not alone with this condition.
And now, back to reading topics
