Hi,

Came across this website and just had to join. I don't have a diagnosis for Aspergers right now, but am in the process of getting one. My psychologist suspected that I may be an Aspie, which would explain a lot of things, so after discussing with me the pros and cons of getting an official diagnosis at this point, I wanted to know. However, I have been warned of the difficulty getting a diagnosis as an adult woman.

Have already had a childhood profiling done with my parents, and the initial tests, and I'm now waiting for another lot of tests this time with some specialist from the Autism team. My psychologist is already talking to me as if I had the diagnosis, although she was very nice and said I would be classed as high functioning.

I decided to read Aspergirls by Rudy Simone, so many things were just like me that it made me cry, but also made me laugh because I had done those same things at some point. Also found an online test with the same questions as the official test I have already done, and gave the same answers. I got a 172 score out of 200 for Aspergers.

So, hi everyone! :D

Hi, Melsky. Welcome!

If you connect with us here, there is a good chance that you are an Aspie, which is a very cool thing in my opinion. It's a real gift to be on the cusp of the human race, both inside and outside of it at the same time.

T.S. Eliot, for example, lived between two worlds, the American and the British, and it afforded him a profound view of both cultures.

Enjoy it here and make friends. Uncommon to "popular belief" we Aspies are very social people. And we love our own.

Peace!

Hey, thank you both :)

After reading about the subject, I most definitely am an Aspie, so going to embrace it :)

You're right JSBACHlover, during the diagnosis sessions I've had a hard time trying to get the point across that I'm not antisocial per se, the problem is that being social is exhausting and it's hard to connect with most people, i.e. NTs!

Better go find something useful to do with my newly found genius

Welcome Melsky! Anyone who would put huge sunglasses on a Cookie Monster puppet seems like someone I'd get along with. :-)

You Aspie girls are a rare breed. Here's to hoping you find some good company here.

Hey Rolteg, the cookie monster looks like me but on a good day  There's nothing better than hiding behind a huge pair of sunglasses, they shield me from the world and others don't notice I'm not looking at them in the eye, so everyone's happy

Hello Hart, also in the process of getting a diagnosis.

Made a typing mistake in the first post, got 174 in the Aspie quiz, not 172
