Hello everyone After lurking here for what I'd say is a long time I've finally decided to make an account to join in the discussions. Bit about me:
- I'm 19 (probably says that somewhere)
- Diagnosed with high-functioning Autism @ 15. (Is it true that the DSM-V is scrapping the diagnosis of Asperger's and instead replacing it with a diagnosis of Autism, either high mid or low functioning??)
- I like cats, like a lot of people on here it seems. Common trait among people on the spectrum? Possibly.
- I like most animals. (I am the proud owner of a pair of giant African land snails.) But cats are just awesome in every way.
- Gaming and learning be my main hobbies.
Question:
I understand that a lot of people who are on the spectrum either suffer from being hypersensitive or hyposensitive in response to loud noises, bright lights, pain etc. But I've never really known if the same extremes generally apply for emotions. I know it does to me; I'm extremely sensitive to criticism, insults, rude/bad remarks, feeling left out and not being liked. I'm also incredibly sensitive to noises I dislike, loud noises, pain, bright lights and weird food tastes and textures.
