Hello everyone,

I have been browsing this forum pretty regularly for the last week or so and wanted to say hello.

Though I have known a little bit about Autism and Asperger’s for quite some time (I have suspected for ages that my brother has AS) I never really connected it to me.

But during the last couple of days I have become obsessed with AS and have been reading everything I could find about it. The more I read the more similarities I find with myself. And the more I pay attention to what I do on a daily basis the more I find that fits with AS.

At this point I am pretty much completely convinced that I have AS and it has been pretty overwhelming to remember my past and finally make some sense of it.

Aside from that here’s some info about me; I’m in my late 20’s, I’m female. My interests include; drawing and painting, design, ancient history (1500 BC and earlier), quantum physics, cosmology. I have other smaller interests but they are more like shorts blips of information craving.

I would like to go get an official diagnosis and I am curious to know more about the experiences of other females in particular who have done so later in life. Also if you have experience with the Canadian health system that would also be handy.

All the best,
Olivia

My experience as a woman trying to get diagnosed (in the U.S.): difficult. The possibility of having an ASD being discounted for ridiculous reasons. Multiple personality disorder misdiagnoses in the process. Seek someone who specializes in evaluating adult females.

Thanks for all the welcomes! :D

I've been a bit nervous about checking back in with this forum but I'm glad I did. I've yet to go see a doctor (partly because I'm not a big fan of them) but I am building up my courage to do so.
