hello,
first post here.
41 years old. had issues all my life, learned about aspergers a few years ago, but thought it couldn't possibly apply because certainly someone would have caught it. took a few online tests and found it did apply.

i honestly haven't stuck with just one thing to focus on, instead i have focused on something till i did it very well, then found another focus.

i make myself socialize in a limited way, i socialize only with people who have the same interests.

my grandparents did me a great service without realizing it: they took care of me every weekend when i was very young and deliberately taught me social skills and things that now i consider to be wonderful coping skills.

Welcome! It's nice that you had that support from your grandparents. I'm happy for you on that. I'm a newbie too, so maybe it's too early for me to say anything about Wrong Planet, but I think it's a nice and supportive place. Have a nice weekend!

i'll be honest: i'm having issues with dealing with the seeming permanency of some of my issues right now.

how do you accept the bad with the good? i like who i am, but being unable to get over failed relationships quickly and then finding out this is something i may never be able to change has just been a bit much to deal with.
