Hello everyone I'm a new member. I came across Wrong Planet when I was trying to figure out whether I have Asperger's based on a test I took from a website that deals with ASD.

Previously I was diagnosed with autism but it took a while to realize that when undergoing a psychological assessment in high school I found out that I have an NLD, which stands for non verbal learning disability. At the same time I also found out I had PDD. At first I was in denial as I had been exposed to the belief that girls don't have ASD when I later found out that some do have it but the problem is they're under diagnosed, as autism often affects boys and because of that, it's easy to diagnose them. For girls it's hard because of a belief that they're supposed to be emotional and it's rare that as a female I found out I have it. So it took long for me to cope with it and accept it.

I can't really tell for sure whether I have ASD as I had gone through a couple of tests to see what kind of disability I have. Some psychologists are unsure or biased in diagnosing people. For example, a psychologist may misdiagnosed the person as having autism when later he or she finds out that this person has a learning disability.

I was relieved to find out that I have NVLD. Somehow I had an epiphany. Looking back at what signs I was exhibiting, the struggles I face, the challenges I must cope with and the strategies I felt I must use to deal with issues, I was convinced that I would've admit I have Asperger's and NVLD at the same time, a rare combination.

Today what I'm doing right now is looking for a job. Things have gotten much harder as most of the jobs I looked for require an experience or higher education. Unfortunately I never had a job. In fact I had only two placements in each bakery, one from school and the other from an employment program that caters to people with disabilities. I never intended to be a baker. I struggled to figure out what kind of career I would like to pursue. As soon as I look back at my abilities and what I'm good at while undergoing a career quiz, I figured in choosing to become a clerk in a retail store stocking items in shelves. Maybe this is something I would like to do.

I'm currently enrolled at the YMCA and had been offered a job at the amusement park. It is full time I think. I intended to look for a part time job, well it's all right.

By the way this is a new place for me to start with. I hope I enjoy the site.
