Hello everyone, it's very nice to meet you all! I haven't used a forum in quite a long time so bear with me, and hopefully this post won't be suffocatingly cheesy.

I've made it to the ripe young age of 20 but I was only diagnosed with an autistic spectrum disorder last year; I believe the psychologist who diagnosed me was favouring the new DSM V criteria, as I was told I would've been given the Asperger's diagnosis had I been referred earlier. The revelation that I am autistic has been a surreal experience to say the least. I always felt alienated by society, unable to adapt to or feel comfortable with their extroverted ways, and I was always acutely aware that my sensory experience of the world was vastly different from theirs; lights, sounds and smells caused me considerable distress and even after years of experience in dealing with hypersensitivity, I'm still prone to anxiety and outbursts of panic. Although the majority of my strengths and difficulties correlate with the autism assessment, I still feel as though I'm taking tentative baby steps into this mysterious universe of neurodiversity. Hopefully, this forum will enlighten me on the musings of other autistic minds, while unearthing the rambling nature of my own.

My interests used to be a lot more restricted in my childhood, but now I have a diverse range of hobbies which I try my best to pursue regularly. Music's one of my greatest passions, and some of you may be able to recognise my favourite artist from my username. I also fumble around on guitar and programme a couple of beats whenever I have the time. I'm hoping to achieve a doctorate in clinical psychology in the future, so naturally I'm intrigued by psychological disorders and developmental psychology. As an extension of that, I'm gathering interest in neurology, so if anyone wishes to educate me, please do! Outside of that, I enjoy watching darkly comic TV shows (e.g. Breaking Bad, Dexter), voraciously reading whatever fiction comes my way, and spontaneously combusting while trying to solve a rubik's cube. :wink:
