I don't usually straight-up introduce myself, but from looking around this site I can see I am in the presence of like-minded people.
So I'll say hi. I just joined in the past hour. I have Asperger's - I was diagnosed just last week, however the first mention of it being a possibility was roughly a year ago from my psychiatrist.
I have to say it's been a huge relief. You know when I saw the name of this site which I found through research I had to laugh. Ever since I was young I felt like I belonged somewhere else; like whatever higher power out there put me on the wrong planet, haha. So my childhood years were full of learning, being called "weird", bullying and spending 90% of my time in my own world. During my teenage years, I had several bouts of severe depression - though the depression seemed constant. I missed a lot of time in secondary school (high school) due to it, talked to many psychiatrists and was put on medication (which didn't do much except lower my brain capacity, it seems). I couldn't figure out what was different about me (I almost used the word "wrong", since that's what I have built into my head), so the diagnosis was a relief, to be honest. Still, a lot of learning comes along with it, haha.
Wow, ye got a novel.. Not a good first impression. I don't always make posts the size of a chapter, promise
Good day!
