Ooh emoticons!! !!

Hi, I is being Kat (my name's Kat) and I have bothersome SPD (which secretly stands for Special Police Force, haha), do not understand humans, and am obsessed with superheroes! As well as anything medical, music, life, etc.

I have recently discovered my Martian heritage (I'm from Marz), so if I say anything really weird, it's because I'm not from Earth. Oh wait, you probably aren't either. Let me know what planet (or strange part of earth, or parallel universe, etc.) you're from below.

Thanks. Do you like the 1960s Batman (the TV show), or the present-day one?

The 1960's one can be a bit crazy at times, and not exactly realistic, but I still love Adam West and Burt Ward (I think the names are right), and it's hilariously funny to watch. Not sure what you mean by the present day one, but I still watch and love heaps! (Batman: the animated series, Batman Beyond, the Batman, Beware the Batman, etc.)

How 'bout you? Did you/do you watch anything on TV?

These days, I like to watch sports, documentaries, and realistic (not "reality TV") shows like COPS.

When I was your age, I used to like to watch "Emergency," "Barney Miller," "The Odd Couple," and "Wide World of Sports."

I love COPS! I watch it all the time with my Dad, and it's very cool. Action with out the dramatisation, I guess you could say.
And I LOVE the TV show "Emergency", it's like a medical drama and an action drama, which is so cool!

"Emergency" taught me a lot of things about how paramedics work, about IV's, about the Heimlich Maneuver, etc. It was also a pretty good human drama about how doctors, nurses, and paramedics work together.

The one trouble with shows from today, versus shows from other eras, is the reliance on "cool." Every sitcom today is an extended double-entendre, which I find irritating. I also bemoan the proliferation of what I would call "false realism."

I know what you mean about how TV shows now-a-days lean too much on "coolness." There just isn't the same depth or meaning there used to be, and everything seems so materialistic and useless! Well, maybe that's a bit harsh, but I'm sure you know what I mean. Personally, I'm very into medicine, so a lot of medical dramas airing now make me want to scream and throw something at the TV (I'd never to that though, I think I'd be disowned!).

You should watch shows like "Ben Casey." It lasted, in prime time (non-repeats) from 1962-1966. It was about a neurologist named Ben Casey. I believe you'd like that show--even though it's in black and white. Same with "Dr Kildare." During the 1970s, "Medical Center" was also good (it was in color--about the late 60s, the transition from black and white to color occurred). Then you have "St Elsewhere"--which, for some reason I didn't like that much--but you might.

I can discern that you're smart enough to know that "old" doesn't necessarily mean "stale."

If you're into more "human drama" and less medicine (perhaps), you should watch "Marcus Welby," which starred the guy from "Father Knows Best." This show dealt with ethical issues quite a bit.

I'll check out the "Marcus Welby" one too, as ethical stuff is a big deal in my family. If you're more into realistic stuff, I'm not sure, but you might enjoy the TV show What Would You Do. It's about presenting unknowing civilians with a real world problem, and they seeing how they react, without knowing they're being filmed. It's interesting and at times heart-warming, especially the segment they did on people's reactions to Autism.

Anyway, hope life's going good for you. What country are you in?
