Welcome!
While you wait for a diagnosis, you might want to explore one or more of the University of Cambridge Autism Research Centre screening tests. The Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ) test is the primary test, and several others are its factor tests. The tests are free, downloadable, printable and easy to score using keys.
Thanks for the link. I actually took the AQ several years ago after my wife suggested it, but only scored a 28 and didn't look into it any further at the time. After some recent events in my life, I started looking into AS as a possible explanation. I read on the Asperger's subreddit that the AQ had a high false negative rate and they recommended taking the RAAD-S. That one put me well above the threshold and pushed me to do even more research. I've done several more tests since then that I've found here and on other sites. At this point though, I think I'm done with self administered tests. Most put me as positive or borderline positive for AS/ASD, but all of them tell me that their results are essentially meaningless. I don't see anything further to gain from doing more of them that aren't administered by someone who can give some meaning to it.
The thing that's really convinced me is reading the stories from other Aspies. I see so much of my life in them. Not just in generalities, but in the little details too, and across all areas and ages of my life. I picked up "The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome" and reading through the sections on childhood friendships and bullying brought up years of repressed memories.
