Current diagnosis Bipolar, which was about 10 years ago. I'm 56, I think. If I don't just start writing nothing will get down. Brain race. Forget paragraphs I just can't do them. I can't read anymore, I have to skim read, or it has to be short. I can write today but may not be able to tomarrow. I like the dark and don't move things on me. I was watching CNN and a current bit about autisam, Sanjay Gupta was doing it. I was trying to sleep with the "white noise" in the back ground. The thing that came so strong from the interview was the overload part. How it can make her just stop functioning almost, trying to deal with the object, subject, effort, etc. Just going outside in the light is horrible, better now, but still bad. Trying to describe the bipolar feelings is agonizing. Even getting in the car to go to an appointment, is better, but used to be almost impossible. There is something else happening and this is a subject I would like to explore. Valium has been a god send. Current main med is Lamotrigine, we're still messing with the dosage, so I can't say yet if this may be the one. Been here before and done that with I have forgotten how many meds and no count on the doctors or lack there of. I'm a Viet Nam era vet so I go to the VA, not as bad as some of the past horror stories, but still has it's problems. I take what I can get. This will be brought up, soon, at the VA. I hit so many of the "warning signs" it isn't funny and I have learned to laugh at an awful lot of them. I was a very strong "self medicater", you name it I did it. I don't know if I "fit" here or not. If I don't, I will be history, if I do, you all in big trouble ;p

My sig has to do with archeology. I did it as a pro and as non-pro for a long time. Umm I was a little obsessive about it, understatement. No degree, I came in through the bathroom window, degree's are out of the question for me. Only group of people I could ever relate to for any length and they're all crazy ;p

Anyway this is a two pronged attack on my part, get info here and through my doctor. Like I really trust them anymore, what a hoot.

Oh my god, paragraphs, it's a miracle.

Hi!

Welcome to Wrongplanet!

That was a funny subject for your introductory thread. I guess you do have a sense of humor. So, you're a Vietnam vet. Quite a bit older than I am, I'll tell you that!

I hope you enjoy posting here!

Viet Nam Era, I wasn't in country. Then again, we all were in one form or other. Strange days. I still have problems dealing with it all. Guilt for allowing myself to be drafted into the Army, I guess. Not having the courage to go to prison for my beliefs. Woodstock was fun though.

Thanks for the welcome. I'll try to be careful with my sense of humor, but no promises. Age is in the heart, my friend, we all have a story to tell, just need to listen, which isn't always easy.

North central Pennsylvaina, on the New York State line more or less. Deer out number the people and I like it that way. Fairly good English? lol Well I speak better then I can write. My spelling is horrible, even though I most times know it's mispelled. I can't take the time to correct it or the train of thought is off in another direction. I also dislike spell check, a lot, really a lot.

Thank you for your complement!

I'm so new to this, the thougts and the very word "aspie" are only a matter of hours old. I did find the quiz and scored 135/200 aspie and 91/200 non. I'm not sure what that all means. I did find the quiz very hard to do. I'm old enough and had so many different periods in my life, it was like them asking things that might have been 50 years ago, but not true now, or the other way around. Very very hard for me to do. I have had so many coping skills and still do, some have failed me now. It's like I don't even know who or what I was 10 years ago with all the different drugs being used to try and treat bipolar. Anyone sense a little frustration?

Parts of the quiz were so dead on it was frightening. Frightening that, again, no pros have given me a clue that this thing even exists. It goes back even further, no one gave me a hint about bipolar, and I had been in a situation it should have been, big time. It took a letter from of all places Social Security to show a pattern in my work history, for a bell to go off in my head. I'm not really frightened by it all, what does concern me is Bipolar often brings a friend, is Aspie a friend? Is it a singular? Is Aspie the main and bipolar a friend along for the ride. No Bipolar at all? I will get to the bottom of it, I am driven.

Never a dull moment, if there is, give me a minute.

With a name that has Tex in it, you in deep goat do-do, my friend  They still goat ropin in Texas?

I was hoping you might say hi. I love rocks. I have rocks in my head, you see. I noticed on your web site your interest. I would have replied there, but it appeared I had to do a sign in thingy and that isn't always possible with me. I'll try later. I was into "lithics" when I did archeo-whore work. (an archeo-whore is an archaeologist that does it for the money).

Thanks Tim for the welcome.
