My name is Amethyst.
I'm pretty sure I'm crazy, but certain I'm autistic.
I live in the USA, on the west coast.
My dog is named Toby. Toby is really annoying a lot of the time, but I love him to bits; he's the first animal I ever formed a reciprocal emotional bond with, humans included. Toby is between 3 and 4 years old.
I have a BA in computer science, class of 2009, but I've never had a job in that field.
I'm hypersensitive to touch (i.e. A gentle caress feels abrasive and unpleasant; wind hitting my skin when it's dry feels the same).
I'm hypersensitive to sound (i.e. When I was elementary school, my heart would race and I'd start to sweat a few minutes before the bell rang, because the sound was so unpleasant; I've always hated fans -- Mom used to leave a fan on in the girls' room to "help us sleep," and the noise it made kept me up LATE).
I'm hypersensitive to light (i.e. if I go outside during the day without sunglasses and my shady hat, I can't look anywhere but down; the flash on a camera hurts.)
I'm extremely sensitive to the moods and reactions of others, especially when we're in the same room; partly because of this, I prefer to be alone and to do my socializing in text, over the internet or through text messaging.
I suffer from OCD, but not to the extent that I did in childhood; I have worked hard to break my obsessive thoughts, habits and behaviors, but I'm not really there yet.
I have an anxiety disorder and can't remember ever not having had one. It seems to be getting better; Toby helps me with my anxiety A LOT.
I learned about people from books and TV (I watched mostly educational kids shows for my first 8-10 years of life, but I watched a lot more TV during the half decade that followed, and that programming was NOT mainly educational).
Currently, I don't own a TV and don't want one.
I'm currently living alone (with Toby). I lost my job about a month and a half ago, and am on unemployment... hopefully I will find work soon and not have to move back in with family... O.o
I expect to start law school next fall; I'm registered to take the LSAT near the end of September. I'm interested in youth rights; our youth deserve more rights.
