Hi! I am the mom of an 18 yr. old diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder... The psychologist said it would be considered Asperger's before the DSM changes, so that's what we call it. I was happy to find this forum and am encouraging my daughter to join if she would like.

My daughter has a history of what could be considered NVLD diagnosed since she was 6 and has had anxiety and social difficulties that eventually led to the Asperger's diagnosis. Looking back, I see that she has had signs of Asperger's since she was very little, but as I have been reading regarding girls, things are often looked over in girls. But it really makes sense to us.

She is pretty happy with the diagnosis as it really helped clarify a lot of what she has always felt.

I'm excited to find a forum with others that have insight and understanding regarding this!
