Hi! I'm a newcomer here, in Regina - had problems in pre- and early school years in Ottawa and first saw a psychologist as a child - things went "normally" until I turned 20 as a university student. I first saw the term "Asperger Syndrome" in a newsletter in 1991 but saw my first aspie a year earlier, in a TV series. (It happened to be a woman named "Circa" in Capital City.) One theory for my condition is that I was displaced by my later-born, neurotypical siblings. I started reading more Asperger's literature in 1992.
To me 2014 has had many "20TH anniversaries." In 1994 I was hospitalized and entered Saskatchewan's (mainly) mental health system. I spent only 10 months away from it. I have been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, schizoid personality disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, and childhood schizophrenia. My Asperger's diagnosis was lifted after 2005. I continued reading A.S. literature from many library books, starting in 2011.
I am starting to understand how WP Community Forums work and will be glad to follow them; in future I would like to post comments about my attempts at dating and relationships.
