Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Zuma and I'm here looking for answers. I was dx'd with Bipolar about 17 years ago and with ADD about 15 years ago. About 2 months ago I had a major meltdown and had to take a "rest." Things are better--a ramp up on medication and a few changes, but I'm trying to figure out what my problem is right now.

I might just be manic and imagining that I may also be HFA/AS. No dispute on the BPD dx, but I really do think there's something else, too. My psychiatrist told me that I absolutely don't have Austism or Asperger's--I'm way too outgoing. But I'm not really. It's just I'm in my 40's and have learned a lot of skills--like sociopaths do--including putting on a show.

I took the wired test which didn't seem like anything definitive, but I scored a 40 for whatever that's worth. I'm assuming my psychiatrist should know (and I wouldn't be surprised if he were AS), but I feel like one of those people who are illiterate most of their life, but no one catches on because you've gotten so good at hiding it.
Help--questions--any suggestions most welcome

I should explain my meltdown. Actually I got so caught up in the stock market that I couldn't bring myself to go to work. It was my plan to day trade part time and I have a day trading account, but I got so into the stock market I just couldn't be bothered doing anything else. Since everyone knows I'm bipolar--I played the bipolar card. I really didn't have a meltdown so much as a tantrum that evil forces wanted to keep me away from the Nasdaq.

Was it mania or something else?

I took that and got 17(20 +/- or HFA)
on the empathy test IQ_?.
40 is to my knowledge AS-NT?

I averaged HFA and didn't get my 3rd
result(LFA-AS) because their server
crashed and I just finished the survey.

Hmmmm?

Well, Bipolar and ADHD occur a lot of times with Aspergers. However, some symptoms of those disorders can also look much like AS at certain times. It would be good to get an outsider's view on your behavior as a child. Childhood behavior is the best way to weigh whether you are or are not. If there is anyone around who was around then (as you said you are 40, as sometimes parents of people your age may be a little senial or even dead-- hope this is not the case).

By the way, I scored a 47 I think it was on the Wired Test. And cannot recall the Baron-Cohen test results. I should retake that. I know I scored higher in the AS range in the emotions side. A little less but still in AS range on the logical side.

Here is the note on the wired test!

NT(SQ@24-30), mine 38(HFA)
NT(EQ@37), mine 17(HFA)

The server crashed on the 3rd test.

Sincerely,
Ghosthunter

There was a third test?

Are we talking about the Wired AS test or Baron-Cohen's male/female brain test which is supposed to be a marker for Aspergers/HFA as well???

Wired = one single score up to 50

B-C = two scores: an SQ and an EQ

:) Just wondering. Me confust :?:

One day I was perusing the WrongPlanet
site and landed on a UK only AS site.
On this site they had a wired link.

I did the EQ, and SQ, I just finish Autism
Spectrum Test(forgot it's name) and was
sending it out for results. Blam! the server
crashed and lost my test and no results
thus therefore.

That is all I know about these evaluative
tests. Up to that point I never heard of
these tests before, but it definely was
on the Wired site.

Equally Confounded,
Ghosthunter

Hmmm... maybe Wired has posted the Baron-Cohen test on their site as well. That would explain much :)

Also, in lamens terms next...what are
they saying about the person?

Hmmmm?

The Baron Cohen tests work by taking common traits of AS and judging how prevelant they are in a person taking the test online.

The test depends fully upon the honesty of and the accuracy of the memory of the person taking the test.

Their nothing more than a "rough guide", something to be used as a starting point in getting an offical DX.

Scoots,

Can you PM me the site that directly
links me to this test. I hope this
time the server doesn't crash!

Thanks,
Ghosthunter

Hmmmm? Why? This is just my
opinion but I think these tests may
bring self-awareness. What is it
about these tests that you dislike
(or detest)?

Most Inquisitively,
Ghosthunter

P.S....Regarding the triple post earlier,
I don't know why the server does that.
I just pressed once. I have seen it
happen to other people's posts as well.
