I am new to forum. I am undx AS. Many interests (see profile for a shorter-than-usual list due to space constraints). College student atm double-majoring in English and Psychology, with a minor in German.

This summer during my off time from the uni, I will be working on translating Rainer Maria Rilke's Das Buch der Bildern or in English known as The Book of Images. For those who are completely unfamiliar with the name, Rilke, he is a Modern German poet (one of the most famous if not THE) who wrote beautiful poetry and died in 1926, I think it was, of leukimia. I also have the kindness of my German professor who proof reads my work to make sure I have not misinterpretted anything. I find a native speaker is absolutely necessary for translators from which to have editing help. There is so much that is missed by someone who translates from a language not their own without the proper aid. Nuances and such which are not present in a dictionary/definition.

Nice to meet you all, etc.

Welcome from Ghosthunter. I once
tried translating Scottish Gaelic
into tarot and Scottish B-side coin
1200's-1707 heraldic art. I can
see your issue about a second
opinion. And I hope you enjoy
your stay here.

ty, do you know the exact date of the next Harry Potter movie release of Goblet of Fire??

I am anxious. Strange that I adore the movies and yet I have never read any of the books. I am just afraid I would read the books and like those ever more than the films. Not so sure I want that.

I get downright giddy about the next movie release, and even MORE giddy when it will be out on DVD and I can have it all to myself. :)

I have watched the first three many times (probably too many times). But I do that with movies I like anyways.

With the release, I suspect I will wait till the crowds die down to go see it. I hate being in a crowded movie theatre.

Hmmm, with the books, I might just have to start another COLLECTION :D

I am a collecting addict. atm I am starting to refurbish my Garfield books collection. Had the vast majority of them up till the time I became uninterested in them (I think to about book 32 or something) and am now picking it up again. But the books I still have are not in very good condition as they have been read THOUSANDS of times by me. I want to get new ones and keep the old ones for reading.
