I've thought about posting on a few other threads, but couldn't bring myself to do so. Which is weird because telling people my opinion usually comes rather easy to me. I really don't know if I have AS or not (which could be my problem with posting). I know that I was diagnosed ADHD (and disgraphic, which I have never really had a clear definition on until just recently) as a child, but that some doctors thought I may be autistic (this was the early 80s). But it never really went much farther than that.

I know that I have gone back and forth on believing in the existence of ADD. If it did exist, I've always questioned it's being a "disability". I now think what I've always called ADD is really AS. It's weird though, because most of the reading I have done has been on wikipedia and everything seems to fit (it even explains why I've always walked on my toes). But, I seem to be more social than most of the people posting in the forums/blogs here (that from my 2hrs of browsing on WP.net). I think I may "logic out" social situations and then simply process stimuli and give the "appropriate" response, which after a while may seem trite to the people around me (including myself when I notice it).

I guess I have a lot of reading to do. It's almost scary how well the wiki page describes me. At this point I think I am more in search of information to help me understand AS and hopefully glean some info that makes my day to day life easier. Actually, just knowing that I'm not 100% unique in the world helps a lot.

It is not exact, lots of range, but if you fit here, nothing else matters. I discovered myself here, and still do.

The younger modern era folks do seem to do the social thing better. Not to the depth they want, but it is a shallow world. Here the down right anti social socialize. There is depth, a common understanding of things that most could not explain.

Only one way to find out.
