Hi, new user introducing myself
Age:21
Hobbies and Interests: All scientific/philosophical topics+music which is stated more specifically if you click on my profile
Why are you here? Because I was hoping there is existing someone wich I can relate to in a positive manner, I put people who are kind of nature(which I believe most aspies are), and people with a scientific or philosophical interest especially high on a list of potential conversation partners, but is of course accessible for others aswell as I can not hinder potential experience based on current interests and knowledge of myself(which would be irrational), you can't know what potentially lie out there and won't know if you hinder thyself.
Favorite music: Eric Johnson, Gustav Mahler, Mozart, Guthrie Govan, Steve Morse, Pat Metheney but I can generally listen to everything I come across as long as I find the harmonies, rhythm, and melodies interesting, also simpler and slower things than the people I mentioned is sufficient for my tastes (just so you don't get the wrong impression, music is something to enjoy even though i like complex structures)
Books: I enjoy pretty much everything , but mostly fantasy, sci/fi,philosophy, and theoretical books.
TV shows/Movies: Things that make me relate by rational thoughts or emotionally, fantasy once again is one of my favourites, but thrillers is also high on the list .
Instrument: Guitar, bass, and some drums and piano as I work in my own studio on a regular basis.
Do you like sports? I'm not too sure atm, but I played football for many years when I was younger so i guess i could like it to some degree.
How did you find this website? I searched google for websites related to asperger and this was one of the first that popped up.
Job: I am autodidact which means self learned and have no current job.
Plans for the future? To work as a scientist, or as a musician but that might change at some point. And of course I would like to settle down at some point.
Hey there! Welcome to WP! Your post is very informative Have you ever read George Orwell? He's my favorite author. Hope you enjoy your time here.

Thank you!
No, unfortunately I've never actually read anything of George Orwell even though I know he is famed for his political thoughts through Animal Farm and 1984. But i've watched 1984 the movie, and find the story intriguing(and partly horrifying ). But I guess as most movies miss important parts of the story, you would rather recommend me to read the book? Animal farm has been on my list for a long time but I've been to lazy to get my hands on it
I think the only things you may have missed would have been things like nuances and more background to the story-- if you found the movie to be interesting and would like to know more, then maybe pick up the book. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.
Do you have any particular special interests?

The book 1984 is a lot better than the movie

Ah okey , then I guess I will pick ut up at some point in the future but not now in the near future then as I have alot of TOE(theory of everything) that im supposed to read atm
There is 2 major interests I have ; 1: Discovering what I can about existence, or the observable universe(which again goes down to Philosophy,Physics, Chemistry,Biology,Neurobiology etcetc;science in general+personal development)
2: The musical universe. I am a guitarist and composer.
There is of course a lot of interests which falls under 1, ultimately all aspects of the world which will open my own horizon and my way of looking at things in general, thus personal development. This pretty much define who I am at this moment.
I know my answer might look abit "open" and not really specific but I don't think I could be much more specific than that atm, concluding that I am a open person.
What about you? Any special interests?
Pretty random but books (books themselves like genres, periods and subjects- rather than authors or anything like that), psychology and tea/coffee. I also music but don't know how to play anything... although I own a violin..
A few semesters ago I actually wrote a paper comparing Brave New World and 1984- to see which was a more accurate prediction of the future. It was the former.

Ah I see, sounds like you have a great knowledge of books and as I, appreciate a real handiwork of litterature. I feel the quote you have by Carl Sagan is a really good way of saying what magic a good piece of writing is! The interest for psychology is mutual but I wonder if by mentioning tea/coffee , does this indicate a deep inetrest for it, and in that case what do you find so interesting about that? Is it the theoretical facts behind these productions or is it a sensing(in this case taste/smell) experience wich makes these things interesting? I have to specify that this way of approach can often be interpreted as a form of critisism instead of it's intended purpose which is curiosity, and have lead me to many unbearable situations, mainly because I don't like to piss people off ,bcuz their reaction is unnatural for me and can potentially frighten me, and however I specify my intentions they tend to have this agenda against me based on expectation of something negative. Which I find meaningless as I've always been interested in understanding as much as possible, and can see no reason that anyone would think otherwise , except for saving themselves from potential hurtful information.
Having specified this and also my feelings that drives me to specify this; feel free to make the choice yourself to give an answer. I'm in no position to force you to answer and would not want to force you either since that will only lead to an answer that is potentially not genuine.

Welcome spatialthinker! Enjoy WP.
I am very fond of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and feel the movies left a lot of important stuff out, effectively changing the ending of the movie even.
I also recommend the old classic Day of the Triffids with its opening chapter as it gets increasingly evident that something is very wrong somewhere.
I enjoy listening to music a lot too. Mozart was so prolific and the notes flow effortlessly and so smoothly. I like quite a range of different kinds of music as long as it's good to listen to.
I also enjoy learning as much as possible about the world and the universe around us and expanding my horizons!

I did not have the time to make an complete answer in the first post(due to dinner) so I will finish my answer now.
As for Music, any particular artist you recommend? As for musicianship, I would urge you to start with an instrument wich have specific locations for specific tones as Piano or Guitar. This will give you alot more control of knowing the exact sound you will make, doing it alot easier to enjoy playing. And I would recommend reading up on the functions of the musical universe which will enhance creativity and the concept of your possibilties, and also your level of musical understanding which again gives the control I mention about the instruments function. Music is just like our universe, immensely large with some certain functions that together make up alot of smaller functions, and the possibilities of these mixes of functions is almost infinite. As we have physics and chemistry, in the musical universe you have rhytmh, tempo, and melody+harmony(i tend to look at melody and harmony as chemistry, whereas the other functions is parts of physics, together they make up a universe).
As for you paper it would be intresting to read it, I find history, litterature and politics really interesting as well, but as in all topics, I have in no way a perfect understanding cuz that would require me to already know everything; which is impossible for a single lifetime.
Thank you envirozentinel! I missed your post at first because of a slow update on my browser.
I feel the same about the LOTR , and I sadly have to admit i've only read The Hobbit, and the first book of the trilogy. At the same time I think the movies are still one of the greatest fantasy trilogies and I almost put it up there besides Star Wars(Which was originally a movie trilogy, so it is a difference there, since you miss alot in books and don't miss anything if it is written solely as a movie script), even though it is science fiction I would still classify it as having alot of elements from fantasy.
I will put that on my list, strange feelings in books tend to pick up my interest as I can't stop until I'm satisfied with understanding whats really going on.
Yes Mozart was a fantastic composer. He had this ability to really understand where and how to put the notes, what kind of instruments that should be used to create the specific feeling he was after, and I've wondered so many times what he would sounded like today with all the variations in sounds and instruments we are able to produce this day!
I think we have pretty much the same mind related to music , and as far as I can interpret things that also applies to things in general. "I also enjoy learning as much as possible about the world and the universe around us and expanding my horizons!"
Cheers!
Hello spatialthinker93 I have quite a wide interest in science and to a certain degree philosophy (but don't know much about it) Based on you username I wondered if you were interested in the concept of higher than 3 spatial dimensions or something, because that's something I'm interesting in

There is also a forum devoted to the discussion of music, which I think you'll enjoy. (Art, Writing and Music).
I also like some of Jean Michael Jarre's electronic works such as Oxygene and Equinoxe in particular. Also many other types and artists of ambient and new age type music. Other favourite classical composers apart from Mozart include Saint-Saens, Beethoven , Tschaikovsky, Schubert, Haydn and quite a few others.

HI summersolstice. Yes I definetely have interest in all things related to our existence, and that also goes for a reality of more than 3 spatial dimensions. I have to admit though that I have a limited understanding on the field due to lack of time invested in geometry , and advanced mathemathics, so I'm more like a philosopher in that sense. I am in contact with a phycisist which I will learn those skills from in a matter of months, and hence understand the concept of dimensions. I think I already understand this to a certain degree, but I might not be able to put that out in words since I am a thinker with a great Spatial intelligence and think in pictures or movies and use this way of thinking when i read physical or mathematical formulas(thus is my name based on spatial thinking, and that might be hard to explain in words). As certain persons in recent history did(I might have a misconception that other people can't relate to these things in the same way), I think of concepts like time and existence as a physical property, and I would think of it as my current understanding tells me people at general think of known concepts of physics and chemistry. Hence I don't think it is necessary to make differences between spatial or time dimensions. As for how many dimensions I can think of I'm not quite sure because I always relate all information to my current understanding of existence as a whole, and see it as 1 thing , of course containing or being separate functions (which I guess is how we would define these dimensions? And if this is the case I would also define time as a spatial dimension, and not something to be put in a category by itself). If this is wrong in any sense or if you have any input, I would be glad to get your opinion and listen to what your understanding tells you, since I want to understand as much as possible! As for philosophy, I see it only as a tool to enhance the ability to conceptualize and think rational about concepts that we observe through our experience of living.
