Hello, I am new here. I have multiple diagnosis, but the main one is ASD. I also have crippling anxiety that makes it impossible to have many face to face interactions. As part of my ongoing treatment my Therapist has told me to try using this website to talk to people who have similar problems. I agreed to try it for a month and then decide if it is working for me, so here goes nothing.

I left a reply to you in the thread about your "most hated sensations" (I have mostly the same!). Go read that if you haven't yet. :)

So now I know what sensations you hate, what sensations or things do you like? I'm looking for a friend, preferably one a lot like me, so I'm curious where our similarities end, so tell me about yourself and what you like or don't like (even besides just sensations), and I'll see if I'm similar in any of the ways. I know 9 out of 10 were the same for me in your most hated sensations, so other things could be similar.

Also if you feel more comfortable you can tell me in a private message. Just PM me if so. :)

Welcome. I hope your month here will be helpful. Talking to people (and commiserating) can be a good thing.

I'd suggest staying away from the politics, religion, and sometimes current event forums-- people can get really passionate in those and if you've got anxiety about social interaction those forums are not going to help it one bit. That being said almost all other forums here the people are friendly and helpful (myself excluded  ). You can always post a new question, but then the focus is put squarely on you and your question which could be overwhelming if you have anxiety. My recommendation is to start by joining a current conversation that interests you, throw in your opinion and check the thread a day later and make another post if it's still active-- this will allow you to passively merge into the conversation as a bystander without having the anxiety that entire post is "yours" and about "you". That being said, if there's specific issues regarding autism that you're curious about this is certainly the place to ask those questions.
