Okay, Its time to make an announcement. I have been gone for some time now, but I finally landed a job in Japan! Its not the JET Program, but its a company called Interac, and its basically the same thing. Anyway, I will be living in this small town called Ono in Gifu, three hours from Tokyo (Since that is everyone only point of reference these days).

Anyway, I leave the 14th of August and I was wondering, has anyone else lived in Japan, and if so what advice can any of you give me?

Good luck!

At least in Tokyo, it snows about once or twice a year--usually less than 10 cms.

It gets warm/hot and humid in the summer. High dew points--higher than in NYC.

They have a "funny" way of rendering addresses. You'll adjust to it pretty quickly.

The cost of living, by dollar standards, is very high.

You should take a trip to Kyoto. There's lots of nice gardens there. And history.

During rush hour in Tokyo, people are actually forcefully packed into trains by attendants.

Well I will be living in Ono which is an agrarian suburb of Gifu City, in the Gifu Prefecture. so hopefully things will be cheaper. (though I am being paid more than I would be paid int eh US, so hopefully things will be okay there)
