Figured it was time to stop lurking. I'm a 38 year old male with 2 daughters ages 17 and 12(almost 13). I've recently married a wonderful woman.
I always knew there was something different about me, and I had very few friends growing up. Usually, it was one friend, sequentially replaced. Around 5 years ago I began learning about Asperger's specifically. As I've learned more, I've become aware of my tendencies and have taken a "childhood history" on myself as well as the various diagnostic tests online. I've learned that I'm autistic to a fair degree. I would identify it as severe Asperger's if that was still available. I'll get into my story more over time, but I'm learning to manage my behaviors while still being me. I believe that a unique life story as well as wonderful family supports have helped me develop a great toolbox of coping skills. I have a great many ideas/theories/observations from working with others on the spectrum, self-analysis, and reading as much as I can on forums and research papers.
I'm looking forward to integrating more here and sharing with so many who make me feel at "home", even if virtually.
