Hey, guys.

I'm new here, and have been toying with the idea that I might have Asperger's for quite a few years now. My current diagnosis of social phobia doesn't quite cover the magnitude of my troubles, and I'm going to be getting some (better) professional answers soon.

I have a few questions for the lovely people of Wrong Planet:

1) How did you find out that you had an autism-spectrum disorder?
2) Is there an overlap between social phobia and Asperger's?

I'm getting a neuropsychological evaluation on Tuesday, and I'm really excited to see what's been going on in this noggin of mine. In the meantime, I thought I'd delve into this forum and learn more about the topic.

Thanks!

hi. welcome. my past social phobia (gone now) was a direct result of having poor social skills due to autism.

Thanks for the warm welcome. This seems like a great community.

I got my long-awaited diagnosis today (out of the other four doctors I've been to). For educational purposes, I will state that I honestly thought I had Asperger syndrome, but it turned out to be ADHD.

I won't continue posting here, as I probably do not belong, but if this post is of any consolation to a wondering individual, get a real diagnosis. Don't assume you have something that you don't.

Thanks, guys :)

Does the diagnose of ADHD cover the magnitude of troubles you mentioned in the topic start? Or did you get another explanation for the social phobia you have?
