Hi!

As a kid, my school was given a battery of IQ tests, so we could be divided up according to ability and be guinea pigs for new teaching methods. I kept getting 100% and was given harder ones, until finally I peaked out somewhere.
No one ever mentioned ASD.
February, I took a self diagnosis test, for a couple reasons, and scored AQ40.
Preliminarily, it explains a half-dozen behaviorial konks, not only mine but my mother's line it seems.
Picked up my first book this week, Autistic Brain, by Temple Grandin ( a keeper )
& also went to my first support group.

Survived 40 years of a life-threatening chronic illness thanks to researching the topic like a vacuum ( typical ) ... + my lifelong Buddhist practice ( I host a free group in the San Francisco Bay Area ) ... and ( can i have a big drum roll, please?) support groups.

Slowly slowly step by step.

Thank you

Hi ConnectingTheDots, and welcome. In looking back in my family, I see that my dad had Asperger's and his mom before that. I never had kids so I didn't pass it on but I have a nephew I suspect has it. It definitely seems to run in families. Along with the book you are reading, I think you will find a lot of good reading and good friends here.
