Hi there,

Where do i start? I'm 28 and for the past few years have suspected i have a form of autism but i have yet to work up the nerve to speak to my g.p as i am always going to her about one thing or another. I know there are tests online but i am unsure of how effective they actually are, does anyone have any experiences of these online tests? Anyway there are numerous reasons why i suspect i'm autistic, the BIGGEST one is the fact i find people sooooo confusing especially in social situations, it does not seem so bad at work but then i work with a small group of people that i know very well but in social situations there is always a chance of meeting someone new and that fills me with dread. Greetings and welcome. In my experience the online tests are actually a fairly good gauge, although of course they are hardly perfect and the questions can be a little vague at times. When I first suspected I had AS, I took several of them, and they proved quite accurate. The most complete, IMHO, seems to be http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php, but if you prowl this forum you'll find several others.

If nothing else, by reading the posts here and asking questions in a supportive environment such as this, you will learn a great deal about AS and once you see a professional you'll be able to discuss the subject far more intelliigently. In my case, this proved to be extremely important to a good diagnosis.
