Does anyone like history and cats?
And maybe like Rammstein as well? (that one's optional)
I dunno, I was just wondering.
I like people who like history and cats.

History is awesome. Cats are awesome. Which is the equivalent of history and cats being awesome.

I thought this post was going to be about the history of cats. Well I like both really, but for very different reasons.

I enjoy reading that some famous people were cat lovers. Edgar Allen Poe supposedly. HP Lovecraft definitely. Wot's not to love, kitties rub up against yer leg, and it's ahhhhhhhh ! ! You have to reach down and pet them ! !!

Do natural history (evolution) and archaeology (pre-history) count as history too? I'm very interested in those, but not so much in history according to the standard definition (written history from about 3700 BC onwards, who went to war with whom from what year to what year, etc.), except for some specific areas at specific times.

I was thinking more of the standard definition of history, but I've always been interested in archeology as well. :D In my GCSE History course we actually had a small section on pre-historic medicine. So I guess it's all related to the same thing.

I don't know much about Japanese history myself, but any history is good. :D
I mostly like:

18th and 19th century British history - Ind. Revolution, Victorian Britain
20th century Europe, mainly WWII but I like WWI, Cold War etc as well
Ancient Rome, Greece, Egypt (this was mostly when I was younger though but we have some Egyptian mummies at the museum near me)
Plague and Fire of London 1665/6
Soviet history (I was going to take a unit on this next year but it didn't fit with my timetable)
Titanic (also mostly when I was younger but still interested now)

I love japanese history because I'm obsessed with samurais. Emperor Meiji abolished the samurai class, so I'm only interested in japanese history before this period :)

Ancient Rome, Greek and Egypt history is interesting, I like them, and I was more interested when I was younger.

It was mainly when I was younger that I was interested in Romans as well. I used to sit under the table reading books about them and going to Roman museums. :)

In Egypt and Crete cats were Gods, then some new minor cult said they were evil.

I agree with Willem, life has been going downhill since 3700 BC.

I have some Egyptian cat stuff. There's an Egyptian section at Manchester Museum.

I agree with that as well.

Yeah, I have a statue of Bastet, the Egyptian Cat Goddess, in my living room.
