Hello. Never introduced myself in a forum before, let alone provide so much personal info... So making this post already has me anxious. But here I go.

I'm a 26 yr old male in London who was diagonsed with high-functioning Autism in 2012 after dropping out of Uni due to struggling in social situations. This led to depression, but I'm feeling moderately better now.

I'm now unemployed and live with my older sister, her husband and their children.

I currently lack any decent skill, never worked a day in my life, and still struggle at socialising (especially eye contact).

I am however trying to improve myself by taking cognitive behaviour therapy, losing weight, taking a short bookkepping course (AAT), and will begin learning to drive soon.

My ultimate goal is to have the skills to live alone, get employed in a non-physical job, and not find socialising to be an awkward/painful experience.

Thanks for reading, and ANY help that's suitable for my needs would be greatly appreciated.

The loner-life requires resources, EXCELLENT financial-discipline, well-organised abilities unless you somehow have/earn enough of an income to pay everyone else to do everything else for you, and professionalism in populated locations, self-sufficiency in other locations. Communicate your intentions to family whilst they are still available as a resource to you.

Now for the low-down... absolutely, without exception, make sure that you learn some combination of growing your own food, generating your own electricity, producing or finding a way to procure products to be able to sell through any number of on-line methods (you can start with free versions if available to you until your resources are developed enough for bigger projects), etc.

Here is something that might help you get some ideas for what you can do for yourself...
