Looking for a home swap for 6 to 8 weeks
Hi everybody,
My husband is diagnosed with epilepsy, and since last year it has dawned on us that he may also have Aspergers (or something else of this kind). We both did the AQ3 test... I scored something like 12-13 points, whilst he scored 36.
This score, and everything we have read since, makes a lot of sense. Always wearing dark glasses, not looking other people in the eyes, not wanting to make new friends, avoiding people as much as possible, etc. I could go on and on with this list.
We have been together for over 10 years, and I somehow have never noticed it to this extend. But this is probably because I have enough energy for two.
We are living in Tenerife and the problem we have right now is that my husband needs to go to England. He should get a diagnosis (not just self-diagnosing things; and it's difficult to get one here, as he doesn't speak Spanish). Therefore, a trip to England is really required, to doctors who understand him.
Why am I here on the forum?
I'm looking for a place for him to stay for a few months, ideally in the Eastbourne/ Polegate area (this is where we are registered with the surgery). And as I'm so used to having him around day and night (we both work from home and run a website business), I don't even want to think how it is going to feel without another person sharing the house.
Therefore, if there is anybody out there who fancies a free long-term holiday on Tenerife in exchange to giving his/her place for my husband to stay, please get in touch with me. We are living in the North of Tenerife, without a car, love hiking and walking, enjoying the nature, go swimming.... the time we are looking for is from the 15/10/2016 until mid December.
Thanks for reading, and I hope that we'll find somebody who wants to enjoy some time on this beautiful island.
I don't know if this helps or anything, but there is this website called airbnb, where people can rent rooms in their homes for short terms (like a weekend, or a week, or a month and so on) maybe you can find one near where he needs to be and you can even find someone to rent in your house for the time hes gone, which would make back the money he would have spent as well.
Hi Ze, thanks very much!
Renting is of course also an option, but it's also a money issue. We are not rich, and a trip to England is not going to be cheap, especially if you have to pay for housing too.
In addition, I'd like to link up with people who know about Aspergers. Although it's not me who has it but as a partner I'm hugely affected by it. Feel free to start a thread about this if you like to know how it is for a partner of an Aspergers to have to live with it; I will certainly contribute.
