I found this website last night and have only just begun to look at its contents.
I've suspected for a long time that I may be on the autism spectrum but have never been diagnosed. This has also been suggested to me by a number of people I've known, most recently by the person that I'm in a romantic relationship - the first time I have truly felt close to another person - with. I hadn't thought about this for a while before she mentioned it to me again because I figured that it didn't make a difference if I exhibit the appropriate characteristics to be associated with ASD or not. However, it is interesting to consider and I have found that mentioning that suspicion in conversation sometimes seems to aid in communicating the extent to which I struggle socially - though I have yet to know anyone who seems to actually get what it is like to be quite literally paralyzed when it comes to initiating social interactions. I recently took the Autism Spectrum Quotient test and scored 33.
Something that is very interesting is that in different ways both Schizotypal Personality Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder seem more fitting to my experiences than the other. I am no expert though, certainly.
