Hi there, I'm new to this forum having found the web address in the info pack given to me following my recent Asperger's diagnosis. Just saying hi to everyone and I look forward to joining in some conversations :)

It's interesting that they have you an info pack with this website on, I'm glad to hear that they add a social side to it rather than a purely medical one.

Yes, they sent me a letter ( to hand out to employers or anyone else I think should read it) and a detailed report of the assessments that were carried out along with their comments on my performance. They also included a substantial booklist and a list of websites and some social groups I could attend. There was also a list of the types of counselling that are available to me :)

Thank you all, yes I have enjoyed reading and contributing to the various threads so far. It's nice to find others with some of the same challenges (and skills) as me. It can be a bit bewildering when newly diagnosed as an adult :)

Hello and welcome zoejane,

There's a lot of interesting stuff here isn't there.

I'm new here too and I'm also only now at 48 in the process of a self diagnosis which is really only pointing in one direction and it feels really weird that its taken me or doctors this long.
Its amazing to me the amount of adults that havnt been diagnosed till so late.

I personally find it surprising how many adult females with Aspergers there are on this forum. It's likely because there was a theory that only males can have Aspergers until quite recently.

Yes, I have read that they now think there are as many females with AS as there are males and they are having to re-think their diagnostic questions and tests so we don't keep falling through the net :)
