Hi guys. I'm happy I'm here though even as I was typing this here I felt nervous while I was doing so. I was diagnosed with Aspergers when I was young and, though I struggled, I managed on my own, with a little aid from various psychologist and mental health experts along the way. I've been a kind, thoughtful person throughout most of my life. When I was young I did my best to be generous, helpful, and altogether good. But, in time, and after a good many years of abuse from people I thought I could trust, including immediate family members, I hardened up and started to "pretend" to be a normal, self-serving and self-challenging (is that a term? It is now.) human being. It seemed to work well as, currently, I'm aged 25 - 39 (I'm closer to the far end of that age group) and I recently graduated from college with a 4 year BA.

My life, overall, is fairly balanced save that I work an entry level job and I don't have much of a social life or a girlfriend at this point. I do still have struggles. Being social is awkward and frustrating for me. Even though I'm getting older, forming rapport with people seems tedious to me, let alone creating close, and especially exceptionally close or intimate, relationships. That said, I still have a close group of friends, a couple of whom live with me as roommates. Overall I feel fulfilled in this regard but I still try to challenge myself to get out and meet new people.

Which conveniently leads me to why I'm here. One reason, and, in my mind, the most obvious reason, is to connect with, and hopefully befriend, people here whom had similar experiences, joys, hopes, accomplishments, defeats, struggles, challenges and intellectual pursuits as mine. The other reason is getting advice. In a sense, I feel I need help with certain aspects of my life including career, networking, mental health issues, relationship struggles and, for lack of a better way of explaining it, spiritual perspective. The experiences of others could help and I appreciate any words of wisdom that come my way.

My interests: Making detailed lists, writing both fiction and non-fiction (mostly non-fiction), American politics, World Politics (I'm no expert. I dabble), American literature, Philosophy, Sociology (one of my majors), Debating (I want to branch out from Atheist/Theist debating into other topics) Tabletop RPGS (Dungeons and Dragons and the like), drinking green tea, Weight lifting, Long walks (LOOONG walks like 2hrs plus or longer), Journaling, Video games (I have a Steam account with tonnes of rpgs, Metroidvania, Rouge-like and RTS games and I HAD a DS with some of my favourite games on it) and mindful contemplation of anything that catches my fancy.

Heh. That was a lot.

So I hope to get to know more of you as I read and write here.

Cheers. :)
