I have a daughter who was diagnosed with Aspergers when she was 14. It's been such a big learning journey combined with so many battles. I don't know why but people always comment about how I have such a good insight into how she is. I haven't always understood everything but I have learnt how to understand through lots of courses, training and my career as a support worker for people with ld's & mental health. I've always struggled too - growing up and even now as an adult.
I've been seeing my daughter struggle with so many things and she's becoming a lot more open with me now and talking to me about the things that she's finds hard or that upset her.
It's really strange and I don't know how but I do really 'get' most of it - because I can relate to so much of it. I've either been there or still struggle with the same things she does.

I've had a couple of people saying they think I should find out if I'm an aspie too. Part of me wants the answer because I'd hope that I could MAYBE be able to have some support to either overcome some of the things I find hard - and be able to help my daughter too.
At the moment she is having a more intense assessment - and I'm learning so much more about her - im finding it hard because I feel like she is so much like me. And I wouldn't want anyone to feel how I do about myself all the time x

Hi, and welcome to the forum. Not sure what else I can say actually! :D (Have never had kids, so I can't really relate, so I wouldn't want to pitch in with advice — not that you've asked for advice anyway.)
