Hello,
I joined this forum site a long time ago but didn't hang around much, I think I actually posted just one thread on here LOL. Anyways, a lot of stuff in my personal life since then, including me reverting to the Catholic Faith and becoming of all things a Traditional Catholic! (More on that in a bit.) I really love my Catholic Faith and have a very deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, I won't go into to detail on my relationship with Her, because it's a bit to personal for this site. (I may post a thread a bit later on here in which I discuss Mariology, once I get a feel for the cultural climate here.)

Anyways, considering I've been away for so long and changed so much since last time, I'd figured come back here, and you know, actually make an effort to socialize and reach out. So, anyone here interested in talking with me about stuff?

Sidenote: For anyone a bit nervous about me be a TradCat, and worried I may be a bit harsh and strict, here's a funny thing, I'm actually on a Traditional Catholic Forum-site, I myself am quite shy on there for the same reasons. So if your worried about approaching me, don't I'm doing all I can with the help of the Lord's graces to be meek and humble of heart.

Don't bother with me, I'm just a narrow-minded bigot who does nothing but "proselytize" not because I actually love the Faith, because no one loves the Faith, we're just "using it to justify our bigotry." If you see any thread by me on here that isn't "proselytizing," I can't explain that because that's obviously impossible; because again, all I've ever done on here is "proselytize."

WP is the 2nd worst forum site I have ever been on.

Hello
Is it anything like the Knights Templar? And welcome back.

Thank you,
It's not like an organization or anything, if that's what you mean by "Knights Templar," although there are organization devoted to Traditional Catholics like, the FSSP (A priestly society devoted to saying the Traditional Latin Mass) and such. Traditional Catholics are Catholics that have an interest in, and an intimate knowledge of the rich traditions, beliefs, and practices of the Catholic Faith.

Traditional Catholics would have an interest in, and knowledge of Knights Templar-type stuff, for example I have devotion to Our Lady under her title Our Lady of the Rosary, and that title came from the Catholic victory at the Battle of Lepanto against an invading Ottoman fleet. The Victory at Lepanto was attributed to Pope St. Pius calling on all Catholics in Europe to say a Rosary for the Catholic fleet, and thus in thanksgiving to Our Lady for that victory, Mary was given the title Our Lady of Victory, and later Our Lady of the Rosary.

Now for me personally, I like Our Lady of the Rosary because it's the title Our Lady of Fatima called herself when she introduced herself to the children. (I owe a lot of my reversion to Our Lady of Fatima.) However, I'd be lying of I said I didn't find the Victory at Lepanto quite cool, even if it is, you know, medieval.

Thank you for posting, sorry if that response was too much information.

It's the medieval stuff I like best :D Yes, I meant the original Knights Templar as in those protecting pilgrims to Jerusalem. I wondered if you also had to some extent give up worldliness.

I just looked up Victory at Lepanto, which despite loving history I knew almost nothing about. Seeing Phillip II in a positive light feels odd. I'm English, and to us, he's the enemy, though we do always think of him as very devout.

What is it about the Lady of Fatima that appeals (sorry not quite the right word) to you?

Reverting to Catholicism and then becoming a Traditional Catholic has opened my mind to a lot of things about the medieval world I knew nothing about. Too often people view the medieval folk as no different then their barbarian ancestors except for an extra dose of fanaticism. (Although even the various "barbarian" people were actually quite civilized.) Although that's beginning to change even among secular people, at my college I heard my English instructor say once that they were discovering fascinating stuff about medieval women. I'm history buff, but like I've said, I'm just starting to learn about the middle ages.

In regards to Our Lady of Fatima, that apparition was the last push that got me to revert. Before, (I was a Deist before reverting) I accepted intellectual all beliefs of Catholicism and the philosophy of Traditional Catholicism, but I didn't really have any motivation to join. I had heard about the apparition and message of Fatima before, but this time when I started looking at Our Lady of Fatima, and seeing her message, and prophesies, something just clicked, and I finally decided to return to the Catholic Faith.

So, have you ever attended a Tridentine Mass? (AKA, Traditional Catholic Mass) I ask I noticed you're from Portland, Oregon, and one of my friends who is not a Traditionalist, (He refers to himself as an "Orthodox Catholic") but is a fan of the Latin Mass told me that one of the parishes he used to attend in Oregon now offers mass in the Tridentine form.

Also, while we're on the subject of Spirituality, what devotions do you have? And who are your favorite Saints?

Sorry, I forgot about this part of your question. Actually, being a reclusive Aspie, I didn't have that much problem detach from the world, I just had to do a few tweaks here and there, give up a few forms of entertainment, nothing to big. My biggest problem is actually communicating with the world, figuring out how to express my Faith in the right way, being neither too passive, nor too aggressive about. Being willing to speak-up when I need to, yet not being to aggressive when I respond to being offended.

I still have a lot to learn though, and need to more, and meditate more on a lot of things. Right now, for Advent, working on meditating for at least 10-20 minutes this day, and I'm reading the Catechism, St. Faustina's Diary, and the Biblical books that deal with the Israelites leaving Egypt and entering the Promise Land.

Knowing how much to say, when to say it, and how forward to be in saying it, are all things we Aspes struggle with, I think.

I do a sort of meditate thing every day. I concentrate on physical feelings, like a lack of pain, and then I think about what I have to be thankful for. I find it has a very positive effect on my moods.

I'm not usually worldly but I do get distracted by the dream of owning my own home sometimes. Mostly though I can appreciate the fact that I'm warm and fed and live somewhere safe :D
