Hi Everyone

Feeling a little shy. Never really used sites like this before. 8O

I'm 29 and was diagnosed with ASD two years ago and I'm only really just starting to accept and understand what this means to me and trying to find a way to empower myself with the positive aspects of the way I see the world and exploring different ways to express myself, my thoughts and ideas.

I am feeling very alone and isolated so I thought I'd come say hi and perhaps have a good discussion.
I love a good in depth discussion of topics.

I love film and am a very big fan of Disney and psychological thrillers which I love to analyse and look at symbolism and discuss possible interpretations.
Other interests include gymnastics, photography, travel, creative activities and human biology.

Hope that I can contribute to the community.

:D

On my behalf, welcome to WP. c:

I'm curious as to what these "creative activities" that you refer to entail. I'm guessing they involve art somehow, am I correct?

Hello!

I'm also curious of the creative activities. Do you ever combine that with your other interests?
I had a big interest for human biology last year (secondary interests comes and goes) and I was only painting anatomy and organs, especially brains, for months. (because painting is the main interest)
I'm more into fungi now though..

Hi

Thank you for your warm welcome :D

Well I have a degree in Film Studies which was mostly theoretical but I love creating videos/films as I am a very visual thinker and I love the ability to create a scene or picture in front of the camera to guide the audience into a new world.

I can't really draw or paint but I love doing more abstract things with paint etc. I also have done a lot of drama throughout my life. I also did a year of it at uni and now I am part of a local drama group who help to raise awareness and reduce stigma towards those with metal health, autism and learning disabilities.
There is also a creative writing group, so we express ourselves through drama and poetry etc to encourage understanding and also giving us an outlet for ourselves.
It can be very freeing and we have a laugh too

Not sure why I like human biology so much as I failed my biology A Level lol
I can have a bit of a fixation on why my body does the things it does. I have M.E and fibromyalgia and I find it infuriating when I don't understand why I'm in pain. So I turn it into almost like a research project of understanding why these things may happen and find new ways to deal with it and I just find it fascinating.
Turning the pain into a different focus and different way of seeing it. Also seems to help me accept it when I somewhat understand.

Hope you guys have had a good day

If you have any tips for using these forums, it would be appreciated :D

Welcome to the forum!

I love creating too, though admittedly I am not gifted in the visual/spacial department, my inclination is more towards logical/mathmatical creativity like music, or anything with audio.

Beyond that I am quite interested in humans aswell, biology, psychology and philosophy.

As far as disney movies go, my favorite would have to be lion king. :)

Hi

Awesome :D
I think my sisters favourite Disney film is Lion King.

For me some of my favourites are Mulan and Hercules. And I'm really into the newer one, Moana.
I download the soundtracks as I love singing and on a bad day I like to put them on and sing to my hearts content
Always makes me feel uplifted and safe

:D

Hello and welcome

I didn't like Disney when I was a child but when my sister and nephew came to live with us for a bit he had the Beauty and the Beast video and we watched it over and over and over :D and we would sing together (four year olds are very uncritical of bad singing) It was great fun.

Since I got so far, I might as well say hello too. And remember, there's nothing to fear, other than fear itself.

Hi,
I saw you were new and wanted to say Hello.
I've just joined - I'm not that long diagnosed, so it seemed pretty logical to come here.
I tried a similar site, but I found an awful lot of venting and complaining going on, so I didn't really like it.
I've no idea what to expect here: Hopefully, I'll find someone who has similar Spectrum related quirks and struggles.
For now though, Hi from me and Good Luck in here.
