As per the topic title.

I suppose I could add that I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Asperger's Syndrome) about six weeks ago after several years of trying to convince myself that I couldn't be autistic. I am in my mid fifties so there wasn't any chance of being diagnosed in childhood. I still can't decide whether I did the right thing in getting a formal diagnosis. Like everything that has happened in my life that is important, I don't seem to have any feelings about it at all.

Hi, welcome, I was diagnosed at a similar age to yours. Give yourself time; I was confirming what I knew, you got a surprise.

I really like your username. There are a few of us vintage Aspies here :-) welcome again!

(edit in: even some of the moderators are in our age range. :-) And I have found so many younger folks here to be kind and very forgiving when I don't know about music or gaming, etc.)

Welcome Sandpiper,

As Esmeredla says, it takes time to get your head around it all.

A late diagnosis was not on my agenda either but it has happened now so all I can do is go with it.

I hope you get plenty of support and answers on here.

It is a lovely community.

Hello

Welcome, it does take some getting used to. I was diagnosed earlier this year at the age of 42. I've found this sight has been my best resource and support.

Welcome to Wrong Planet! :D

I was diagnosed when I was 13, but I did not join Wrong Planet until three years later.

If you don't know what to say, say something!

(slight edit from my 2nd year organic prof's favourite sentence of all time)

In namen des Grosen Kanadischen Folkes, heise ich euch wilkommen.
