Hello, I'm newly registered here. My story: two years ago, I reconnected to a girl that I met at work 15 years ago; we were both married to other people then. Back 15 years ago, I thought her behavior at work was a bit odd. Upon reconnecting, she seemed sweet, so we started a relationship. Long story short, we have been living together for most of the past 2 years, but our relationship is very bumpy and exhausting. A year ago, it occurred to me one day that she is autistic. Not sure why it didn't occur to me before. Since realizing this, I've researched and read a great deal to discover that she has many of the classic symptoms. I suggested to her that she might have mild autism, but she has denied it each time that I brought it up. I'd like to adjust my behavior to better work within her world, but I'm at the point of needing some professional help. Any suggestions for where I can go for help in the Dallas area? We're both professionals, so I'd like to avoid an 'official' diagnosis; prefer to get it out in the open more and start working on strategies to communicate better. (I think I'm neurotypical, but have anger issues and grew up being very sensitive to what is said, so having to make big changes to myself to keep the relationship working).
Thank you!
