27 male here, I was diagnosed with Aspergers since high school. I'm trying to get a degree in IT and been learning coding do a few years now. I'm in the process of living on my own.

I love movies, food, lists and data, computers, music, and history. I'm interested in meeting new friends who also have aspergers, I used to go on Reddit a lot under /r/aspergers but people are very private and prefer to be anonymous. I kinda am too too so i avoid social media but I'm also not a social person in real life but I want to meet people who have more similar interests.

Welcome. We're all pretty weird here. For example I only learn enough code/java/car engine repair/axle engineering specs/law studies etc etc to do what I need to do for a project. But the only thing I do consistently from start to finish since 1996 is playing Master of Orion 2, listening to darkwave/ebm/goth rock, and breeding garden vegetables. Patterns literally give me a high when notice them.

What kind of project required all that knowledge?

Welcome. I think programming is a great career for people with Asperger's. Everything is logical, literal, there is very little ambiguity. Even the people in the field are understanding, because analytical skills fairly match well with AS behaviors. I ended up mixing two of my passions, programming and music, working on music-related software projects. Looking back at my life, it would be much harder if I didn't discover programming as a kid.

Hey! I’m new here too and also like to stay anonymous usually lol. I would love to speak with others one on one who I could probably understand better than my NT peers. Especially if anyone shares an interest in science or specifically neuroscience.

What specifically do you mean? Programming at young age? It was great. At that time, I didn't have any idea about AS, but I didn't really fit anywhere. With computers, I could be alone, study them and they did exactly what I told them to do, unlike people. :) This was on 8-bit computers, which booted directly into a BASIC prompt, so it was very easy to get started. I used to sneak into the adult section of a library to borrow programming books. It was a lot of fun. I didn't think I'd end up developing software professionally. Only much later did I discover that it's also a great career. As an university student, I already had more experience than most people around me.
