New and confused but curious to learn.

I've joined because for the past few years I've been learning about Asperger's Syndrome and autism as a whole because I was curious of it, then I noticed a lot of symptoms I had too without realising, but when I tried talking to one of my old therapists about it, she dismissed it and said I didn't have it, so I forgot about it.

Then about a year ago I watched some videos about autism in children, and a lot (again) related to me and my childhood. I've tried talking to my mum about it (who was a qualified 'Special Needs' teacher) but every time I do, she doesn't respond and then changes the subject.

It's highly frustrating when these people could potentially have helped me understand what's going on with my brain.

I will make another thread about this elsewhere in detail but, about me generally...

My name is Elyot. It's not my real name but it's the name I've given myself. My real name is female, but I'm transmale/agender and don't like using it online, so I use a male name that I'm more comfortable with. I would explain how I came to choose "Elyot", but I'd rather not.

It was my 31st birthday last week... or rather it was the anniversary of when I popped out my mum 31 years ago. I've never understood why the 9 months I was in the womb isn't counted as me ageing. Technically I've been alive and ageing since September 1986 but you can't celebrate the conception because apparently that's weird.

I'm a very complex person and very difficult to know. Friendship isn't something I'm good at or really desire to have in my life. I don't mix well with others generally due to differing opinions and behaviours.

I have Social Anxiety Disorder (diagnosed at 23), depression and slight OCD (diagnosed when I was 13-15).

I am an atheist, Whovian, I have a few animals, I love colourful sunsets broken up by clouds, I love nature, taking photos of all sorts of things (mostly nature or my animals), I enjoy writing stories and drawing/sketching things when I'm in the mood to, I like collecting things, my favourite type of weather is a dramatic thunderstorm with heavy rain, my favourite colours are dark bluey-purple, dark green and dark blood red, I also talk a lot when I'm in a good mood or I'm nervous... so you'll never know which it is.

What animals do you have?

I have 7 guinea pigs, 3 rabbits and a goldfish (don't know if it's a boy or a girl but they're called Phil.)
