Hello there!
Like many here, it took me awhile to arrive at my current diagnosis of Asperger's and ADHD. That was primarily because my symptoms weren't super obvious at first. It wasn't until I got hit hard by depression in college that a lot of the symptoms became much more pronounced and suddenly hugely problematic. As a result, I temporarily stopped college (back now) and have lived for years the life of a complete shut-in (deleting social media and not talking to anyone). Now, I think it might be time for me to slowly try to go back to the world of the living, and this is a step in that direction.

I love literature, movies, anime, tennis and am a recovering gaming addict (to my great shame). I originally come from Russia and have traveled a lot. My major is Latin American History and Spanish, but I have an interest in almost all subjects from psychology to politics to art (just find it difficult to be passionate about any of them). I even took 22 AP tests in high school just to explore everything xd.

My whole life, in order to survive, I have used my intelligence to analyze and imitate other "normal" people to great success, but that has led me to unhappiness. I look forward to reading about and talking with people who are closer to who I truly am and using that to help with my attempts to restart my life. Thanks for reading!

Welcome isloth!

A video game addiction is nothing to be ashamed of. Some people have alcohol, others have drugs. Can go on for a while: sex, food, pain, gambling, perfection, porn and so on. Addiction is everywhere. Everyone in their life has been tempted in one shape or form. Some people are less or more likely to develop on addiction as well. In the end, be proud you are making steps to get better.

Be cautious not to want to move too fast; take it easy. Baby-steps. You can have a fallback if you move too fast. Hear that a lot from people who want results fast and failing because of it. It takes time so please take your time.

Hope you feel comfortable here and I wish you much luck in making all these big steps. Doing great!

Thanks LoneLoyalWolf ,

You know, in gaming, you meet a lot of people in a similar situation as mine: a combination of ASD/ADHD/Depression/etc., definitely seems like specifically a common problem for Asperger's.

On the bright side, never had the slightest inclination to do drugs/alcohol (being Russian, there's a long family history there that I refuse to be part of).

Still a gamer for life, it's just high level competitive gaming where you become emotionally over-invested is what I can't bear to do anymore.

Welcome and let us know if we can be of any help. There was a term for knowing many different fields. In a way you can drill down into any subject and field and piece things together pieces of a puzzle using many different disciplines. It is called being a "Renaissance Man". It is a treasured gift.
