Hi there everyone! I found out about this board from a friend of mine, and, seeing as I'm almost certainly about to be diagnosed after seeing an autism specialist today, this seems like a good time to join the party.

I have been working as a newspaper carrier for the last 10 years, and it's something I've enjoyed doing, but the industry is on its last legs, so this Fall I'm going to school to study social work. I've also done some various IT-related jobs on the side - web design, application development, things like that. That, and I worked in a prototyping shop for awhile, running industrial-scale 3D printers.

I like to spend my down time reading (mainly adventure, fantasy and sci-fi novels), playing board games or an occasional video game (mainly Dwarf Fortress), or going out to the mall or arcade with friends when they're free. That, or a trip to a used book store - that's always a good way to spend an afternoon.

Feel free to ask me anything!

Ah, I think it might've been OkCupid. That would explain it.

Nice to meet you, Purple, and welcome to WP!

When you worked with 3D printers, did you get to use any CADD programs or did you do more on the hardware side of it? I'm a CADD student, so that drew my attention.

I also agree, used book stores are great. Sadly there aren't many around my town these days.

We used ZW3D for most of our own CAD work, or occasionally SolidWorks or Catia when working with client-supplied designs in those formats.

How fun, I've only gotten to use SolidWorks and AutoCad so far.

Welcome PurpleJillybeans!

You don't seem awkward at all, explain your interests and character pretty well and can compliment you on that.

Enjoy the forum and I hope you will find recognition and maybe make some friends as well.

Good luck with your diagnosis!
