My introduction

I've posted here and there but figured I'd make a proper introduction. I'm a 30 year-old female from the U.S. In the past two weeks, I've been diagnosed with both Autism and Bipolar 1. I have two boys who also have Autism. Let's just say there's never a dull moment in our house. :wink: Both of my sons were diagnosed last year and this year has been a roller coaster as I've had a lot of life changes. It has been incredibly difficult trying to live in a society that was made by and for neurotypicals so my ultimate goal, as a parent, is to change that. My hope is that by the time my kids are adults, society will have come to appreciate more the many contributions individuals with Autism make. While only my parents and close family are aware of my ASD diagnosis, I work closely with my kids' teachers to ensure that they are not ostracized because of their differences as well as to ensure accommodations are made where they are needed. This is something I could have really used as a child so I'm making up for it.

Anyway, I apologize for my rambling. It's nice to be here, in a place with people that I can finally relate to.
