I'm Michael, just turned 18 a month ago, not diagnosed but recently have discovered Asperger's Syndrom and Social Anxiety Disorder and show 100% of the symptoms for both. I have also been tested and show slight symtoms towards ADD. I live in White River Junction, Vermont and have interests in computers. I do technical support for a local internet service provider. I always knew I act really weird around other people and found it strange that certain people find me rude sometimes by not replying or starting any small talk.....I haven't looked into enough to know, but is it that normal for aspies to have Social Anxiety Disorder as well? Anyway, I have a tendency to ramble on about things, so I'll just stop myself here and say hi.

Mike

Hello Michael, it's nice to meet you. A fellow aspie here. I turned 27 two weeks ago Saturday.

Neat how you and Dan are from White River Junction, Vermont. The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore grew up there, too. :D

I would think many of us on the autistic spectrum have Social Anxiety Disorder to varying degrees, beings that Asperger's Syndrome is a "social disorder."

Hi Michael,

Yes, social anxiety is very common. Other issues such as depression, anxiety, and panic attacks are also common for folks on the spectrum. ADHD is a common co-morbidity as well with ASD. I hope this helps. It just goes to show that you're not "weird" but clinically pretty "normal." ;)
