Typing vs Talking

I find there is a pretty big difference between how I talk and how I type and... how I think!

I don't always think in words or sentences, but when I type, I do. I think of the words and type them, usually all at once, though sometimes I take a moment to think before typing. And, of course, I sometimes edit afterward, though sometimes I just like to keep it how I typed it.

Talking is different, entirely! I am much more likely to stumble, or to be silent because I can't quite spit it out. Orrrr to just go on and on and on. It really depends on the situation.

But in general, I find it much easier to be honest and to have less of a filter when typing. Which is funny, precisely because I have the ability to edit after the fact. I think this idea of being more honest in typing is why I have in the past had some very nice online relationships.

Can anyone relate? Is it much easier to type than talk ?

I think this post would get more responses in "General Autism Discussion" or, possibly, in "Social Skills and Making Friends." Perhaps you might want to ask the mods to move it?
