Hi everyone.
Diagnosed last Friday with autism and also SPD. (In addition, I also have some psychosis, OCD, mood issues, anxiety, panic symptoms, and I am getting tested for inattentive ADHD. No idea why I deal with so much. )

I want to know everyone's special interests because I find it very fascinating.

Also, are there trends in which subjects autistic folks are particularly keen on? (I know computers is a big one).

My interests are definitely psychiatric subjects (I am very chatty with my psychiatrist due to this!) , spirituality , and am keen on learning physics.

Nice to meet you.

Lately my main special interest has been learning about autism and the autism community and its history and politics, with the aim of figuring out how I can help build a bigger and better-organized independent autistic community/subculture than now exists. (I figure I should be able to make some worthwhile contributions in this regard, given my past experiences in the LGBT rights movement and in various oddball subcultures.)

My other main activity these days is computer programming.

In the past I've also been very interested in spirituality and comparative religion, including various lesser-known alternative religions and spiritualities.

When I was younger I was also very much into music. I figured out on my own how to play the piano by ear (including chords) at age 4, at around the same time I began talking. (I never had formal lessons and never reached professional musician skill level, though.)

Also I've had a longstanding general interest in science and math, though such topics only occasionally rose to the level of "special interest."

So I'm not the only one here with a geography degree. Neat!

Also Music and Video Games are my other main interests.

And welcome to WP, love2connect!

History, especially military history, especially the Napoleonic Wars, and by extension, wargaming. I have always been crazy for toy soldiers.

Also, buses and trams - a friend and I used to spend Saturday afternoons at the Pier Head in Liverpool when we were kids just watching all those lovely old Atlanteans come streaming in in the racing green livery of the Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive!

Funnily enough, apart from computing which you mention, this tight combination of military history and public transport seems to be probably the most common thing here at least among older men who show very distinct signs of being on the spectrum. The sections tend to be close together in bookshops, and there is at least one shop I know - Ian Allen books in Waterloo - that cater for these two interests only.

My interests are, psychology (ASD, Narcissist Personality Disorder, as narcissists tend to exploit people on the spectrum more, Antisociopathy and Psychopathy, I want to learn all about the bad manipulative behaviors so I can spot them)

I also like archery, archery is so fun and empowering! There's a philosophy book called Zen and the Art of Archery, very cool book.

For movies, I like Harry Potter, Fantastic beasts and where to find them a lot, and I love lars von trier and Gasper Noe movies.

Gardening did not have a super long run in my interest list because mosquitos really love me.

Cooking! I love making the same, perfectly nutritious food for myself every day. Recently, it is Galbi Tang, a korean beef rip soup.

I like fun facts, and playing the detective. I used to work at an organization and find contact info and very personal information of rich and powerful people. Kind of like a personal investigator.
